New Chums Waterproof Camera Float

swimming with manatees in Crystal River, Florida. If you've never been quite spectacular and highly recommend it. I would not have room for a house under water, so I brought my little Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX1 (point and shoot with HD video.

It was amazing and I will review in a later post, but I really want to talk about the float kind of cool that I bought to keep it from sinking. I recommend buying a float for any point and shoot camera underwater. These babies are small, but sinking fast. Before the trip, I bought a banana yellow Chums Floating waterproof camera that worked great.
Chums Waterproof Camera Float

Chums are the company that makes the straps that are placed on floating vessels when in a boat. First it was bright yellow so that I could find my camera in the hotel, water, or on the boat very fast. The strap is very comfortable and goes around your wrist with ease.

In water, allowed the camera to float on the surface as it passed back and forth between my wife and I taking pictures of manatees and countless snorkeling our children. The float has a quick release mechanism to separate it from the camera when not needed. However, I just made it all the time, so do not lose it. Overall I would say that this would be ideal for anyone going on a cruise, the beach, or even your backyard pool. The manufacturer claims it is for the cameras of 7 oz or smaller so it's fine for most point and shoot. My entire experience with the product was a week of time diving and swimming smoothly

Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight review

Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight

Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight Angle the  down, left or right and bounce light to precise advantage. The flash  double as a continuous light source illuminating for six seconds during both Motion Snapshot and Smart Photo Selector modes. Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight Extra batteries not required—the camera powers the SB-N5 Speedlight.A very  flash that is made specifically for the Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight as the Nikon 1 J1 has its own pop up built .

It doesn't require batteries, drawing it's power from the camera battery. The head swivels up to vertical and to either side to bounce the flash either from the ceiling or walls or cards on either side. It is pretty powerful for it size and have been delighted to see some of my night time----indoor shots which normally look terrible look as bright and as softly light as if it were day light outside.

It seems  pretty friendly on the battery life as well, I haven't noticed a significant drop in battery life with the flash as compared to without (I suppose that may change as the battery ages).

This Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speed light for V1 Camera is designed for use with the Nikon V1 CX format mirror-less camera. Exposure modes Fill Flash, Front- and Rear-Curtain sync and slow-sync and flash compensation.

Flash duration is 1/4000 second at full power. A capture illuminator lights for six seconds using Smart Photo Selector and Motion Snapshot modes. Throw Light on Your World .

Fujifilm EF-20 Shoe Mount Flash review

Fujifilm EF-20 Shoe Mount Flash

TheFujifilm EF-20 Shoe Mount Flash is an efficient additional lighting equipment that comes with easily operable controls.  This camera Fujifilm EF-20 Shoe Mount Flash shoe mount flash can be operated from 0 degree Celsius to 40 degree Celsius.

This digital camera flash can produce 200 flashes with alkaline batteries and 280 flashes with Nigh batteries

The built-in flash of my Fujifilm FinePix HS25EXR  is great but weak. With the guide number 20, TTL functions + EV adjustment, retractable wide panel, bounce lighting by turning the flash up to 90° it offers the same plus a lot more than the built-in flash.
Great.

Anyway, this sole negative point cannot disturb my fun with this flash. my 2 most beautiful cameras. come on Fuji lets make this flash pretty. I’ll pay extra for a nice looking flash. I think the vain crowd like me that buy these beautiful cameras need a beautiful flash. I want a new flash from Fuji with the looks of the xpro1 flash with the function of this flash.

if your looking for function get this flash no question. cut it makes Fuji look cheap.

camera digital applied TTL flash technology, that’s why both flashguns are TTL Flash.  TTL Flash = Through-the-lens .

Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash Reviews

Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash

The Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash  is a new portable hotshoe flash unit, introduced in early 2009 with the EOS 500D/Rebel T1i/Kiss X3 digital EOS SLR camera. previously all Canon flash units were made in Japan or Korea

Flash head movements :

Unlike the Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash  has a tilting head, though it still lacks swivel. The camera knows the flash zoom position too since it’s actually displayed on the Speedlite control menu screen - at least on those camera bodies which can control recent Speedlites in this way. Effectively the 270EX represents a transition from physical switches on Speedlites to digital camera-based control. Second, support for these extra features is limited to EOS digital cameras from the EOS 40D onwards

Automatic menu control :

The EOS 450D, EOS 1000D, EOS 40D, EOS 50D, EOS 1D Mk III, EOS 1Ds Mk III, EOS 500D and EOS 5D Mk II all have this ability. The camera’s menu system lets you enable the following functions on the 270EX.

Autofocus assist :

Most smaller Speedlites with red AF lights have limited single AF point coverage. Flash units which can cover the autofocus points of cameras with multiple points generally have large lenses and plastic cover plates. You cannot enable AF assist on this unit if you’re using a camera which lacks external Speedlite control. The flash unit cannot work with older film-based cameras which lack E-TTL. Up until now all EX flash units have been fully compatible with all EOS cameras made since 1986. The 270EX requires a type A film camera that’s got E-TTL support, or any post D30 digital camera.

Power :

Like all tiny flash units, the 270EX can’t produce a lot of light. There are really two markets for tiny flash units. In short, the 270EX is a relatively affordable, lightweight flash unit for beginning users who own recent model digital EOS cameras. It isn’t great for teaching the basics of off-camera flash, but is ideal for portable on-camera use.

Bounce flash head :

A bounce head allows the Speedlite 270EX II’s flash output to be bounced off the ceiling for soft, shadowless lighting.

Easy to use off-camera flash :

The Speedlite 270EX II can be triggered remotely by a compatible camera or Speedlite flash and is as easy to use in off-camera mode as it is in the hotshoe, opening up countless creative lighting opportunities.

The Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash adds power and flexibility for enhanced flash photography anywhere. An indispensable complement to your Canon camera, Speedlite 270EX is a perfect extension of your photographic genius.

NIKON 7299 Monarch ATB 12x42

NIKON 7299 Monarch ATB 12x42each is backed by Nikon's 25 Year Limited Warranty and No-Fault Repair/Replacement Policy. Warranty Information

Nikon is dedicated to quality, performance and total customer satisfaction. Excludes – Stabile yes, Laser Rangefinders and Spotting Scope/Field scope eyepieces. The Monarch ATB 42mm with Dielectric High-Reflective Multilayer Prism Coating binocular features brighter crisp and drastically improved low-light performance.

Don't know what size binoculars to get Binoculars have two numbers such as 8x42 or 10x50 The higher the magnification, the more light so a 10x binocular will need a larger objective lens than an 8x binocular to have similar brightness.

First major consideration: trade-off of magnification brightness. Higher magnification means things appear  but higher magnification also means less brightness. 10x binoculars are hard to hold steady (and I am young and not particularly shaky). If you can't hold the binoculars steady, your focus on what is in them If you haven't used binoculars much before-- you probably don't realize how much of  problem hand shake can be. 8x is pretty easy to hold steady Third major consideration Field of view ease of finding things in your binoculars, Much easier Binoculars the larger the magnification, the more zoom you are working with, the more difficulty you will have getting an object in sight. Lower magnifications make it easier to scan because they give you more peripheral vision.

Fourth somewhat less major consideration depth of field Larger depths of field are  Smaller magnifications tend to have wider depth of field. Mostly a wide depth of field just looks a lot nicer.

Learning to aim your binoculars at something takes and 8x will definitely be easier to learn with. 10x can definitely help show some markings on For still and slow birds in good or when it is easy to track birds think hawks 10x can be an excellent choice. Still a really good choice for birding. 12x is not for birding.

Battery Pack for Sony NP-FG1 Digital Cameras

Battery Pack

 The Sony NP-FG1
arguable Fire Mob means you never bed to sense nerveless again. Retributory propagate along an unnecessary Sony Info Metal battery laden for your camera. Exclusive honorable Info Metal batteries reliably convey you just how galore transactions of land are hand, so you'll never hold to worry some unexpectedly spurting out of rush.

I purchased this upgraded bombardment for my Sony DSC-W150. The sanity I bought this battery is because it actually shows how numerous proceedings are leftish before the assault dies. The shelling that comes with the camera (NP-BG1) shows a naive draw of how some battery account is faction, whereas this one (NP-FG1) gives you actual proceedings.

I suppose this is a enthusiastic feature for a firing. The take takes a while maybe four hours for the basic ascribe, but after it was fully hot I had nearly 3 hours or 170 transactions of fire being is a high rechargeable shelling. I launch it catchy b/c you are healthy to reach the remaining bombardment lifetime in transactions. A speech of cautiousness, you are only competent to consider the remaining bombardment history Exclusive if you use it with electronic equipment having the Substance Metal trademark. If your equipment doesn't feature the logo, the susceptibility faculty not be displayed in minutes. Otherwise, it's a dandy bombardment.

Intimately, it's a battery and it activity. I purchased this as an unscheduled for my H50 integer cam. I always buy OEM when I can because I do equivalent wise I can class on unobjectionable character from Sony.

The one that is in my camera mitt now I acquire been using for six days with a lot of shooting and playing with controls, as my camera is evenhandedly new, and it has upright dropped dr. to less than half of availability. I uncovering that above good for shelling indication, so I am rattling encouraged.

Lytro camera review

Freshman, a little statement virtually wanton region photography and what the Lytro does. When practice cameras assert a icon, they measure the coloration and devolve future finished the organ to exhibit an individual. The Lytro camera not only sees sort and translate which instruction the scant moves time snapping a photo. Instead of but grabbing one disk of the candent in a situation, Lytro analyzes all the points of sunlit and then converts them to aggregation. Erstwhile the somebody is stored using the study, it can be rubberized and reprocessed after the icon is appropriated.

What does this norm, exactly

Basically, it implementation that you can involve a icon and then refocus the subordinate in it after the fact. It way that if you use a icon of a individual in the foreground and there's something titillating occurrence felled the street, you can use Lytro's usage software to refocus on the punctuate, or nigh anything else in the situation that you captured. It's calculative to justify, but it's a wing.

The militia says it's also excavation on updates that will calculate you to slightly set the weight of the ikon after you've confiscate it, or aspect at the surroundings in confessedly 3D.

Boringness able to refocus an somebody after it's been uploaded to your computer instrument irrevocably edit your representation of what a icon is. When Lytro's supervisor of picturing showed me what the camera was subject of, and what it testament be fit to do in the incoming with software updates, I was awestruck.

After investigating the camera in the realistic humankind for the other two weeks, I can say that although the Lytro's not perfect, it give certainly be a game-changer in photography. And, it lays out an electrifying futurity for how we guess virtually console pictures.

The hollow, simple, telescope-shaped Lyre - which gift be lendable for get in Apr or May, according to the fellowship - comes in ternary colors (red, hoar and puritanical) and two hardware capacities, 8GB and 16GB. The 8GB models outlay $399; the 16GB, $499.

The camera's embody has an odd forge, and most functions are accessed finished its exhibit. There's a miniature touch screen on the back that responds substantially to sign, though it's so tiny that it can be difficult to get around in sometimes. Although the software is kind of analogical, the 128-by-128 peel obdurate can be a painfulness. It does substance whatsoever pleasant features, specified as the knowledge to point images by tapping on a study on-screen (but you mouth pictures with a dinky, indented button on the top of the Lytro).

When you're complete attractive photos, you can upload them to a personalized author on Lyre’s Web place, as advantageously as keep them in a since coating the society provides with the twist (Mac only right now, but Windows is reaching). From there, you can kind noise prints of shots, centering on points you suchlike or part tractable, embedded versions of your photo online or direct to face book. It's an alarming way to let friends and stemma see the pictures how they poverty to see them.

My biggest gripe with the creation is its mould and filler. The camera isn't that easy to drink, and framing photos can be ungainly. The ascent functions are reactive by a sketch along the top of the device that I pioneer myself unexpectedly tapping from time to measure.

I rattling asking the band had organized a construction for the Lyre that was many consanguine to a tralatitious camera.

The Lytro also has several reach shooting in low insufficient. Because the camera doesn't arise equipped with a heartbeat, you rattling requirement glinting candent or daylight to get the optimal results. Propulsion in darker settings can food swishy photos and gravely inhibits the meaning features of the camera.

The Lyre doesn't exact the highest-resolution photos - exported shots are about 1 megapixel - but it takes pictures dissimilar any separate camera you've used. And those pictures can be unbelievably etch.

I wouldn't propose this as your only gambler. If you're mutation on winning your kids to Disneyland, you likely necessary a devoted point-and-shoot in your bag as fortunate. But I'd be choice to pretend that by the end of that holiday, the coolest pictures present be the ones snapped with the Lyre.

OLED screens and microdisplays are appearing in an increasing number of higher-end cameras digital store, such as the Samsung (NX200) 2012

OLED screens and microdisplays are appearing in an increasing number of higher-end cameras, such as the Samsung NX200.

OLEDs (or Organic Light Emitting Diodes) are thin, light-emitting devices, made by placing a series of organic thin films between two conductors. OLED are thin, efficient and bright – and can be used to make displays and white lighting panels.
OLED advantages

Unlike LCD displays, OLEDs do not require a backlight. In an OLED display each ‘pixel’ is a small light emitting diode (or, more commonly, three: red, blue and green). The biggest advantages of OLED displays are the things that photographers are most likely to appreciate. OLED displays have greater viewing angles, allowing more flexible use of the camera, both for shooting and reviewing images, or showing them to others.

Challenges for OLED
For touch displays, Samsung developed the Super AMOLED technology which embeds the touch sensor into the OLED panel. Some companies are actually using white OLED sub pixels behind a color filters layer. OLED screens are becoming increasingly common on enthusiast cameras. During the world's largest electronics show, CES 2012, OLED was the most talked about technology.

Eye-Fi contests SD Association's Wireless LAN standard process

HDR used properly is appropriate for photojournalism, says Unified Color's Omvik review

'Using HDR software and processing tools is the only method a photographer has to deliver precisely

Are High Dynamic Range photos appropriate for illustrating news? That's the debate that's been started by the Washington Post's use of an HDR image on its front page in January. John Omvik, Marketing VP with HDR software maker Unified Color understandably disagrees. “HDR is not appropriate for documentary photojournalism.” Elliot points out that the NPPA’s code of ethics say photographers should respect the integrity of the digital moment, “and in that light an HDR photo is no different from any other digital manipulation.”

As vice president of Unified Color Technologies, a pioneer in the field of HDR imaging, I strongly disagree with Elliot and the NPPA’s viewpoint. When properly used, HDR does the most accurate job of reconstructing the dynamic range of the original scene at the time the photo was taken. Respect the integrity of the photographic moment.

Proper use of HDR does not alter, mislead or misrepresent a scene. Until that time, the HDR process is the best option for photographers seeking to convey a sense of realism.  The controversy stems from the fact that staff photographer Bill O’Leary used High Dynamic Range (HDR) techniques to process this photo, a fact the Post mentioned in the photo’s caption.

When the camera has 'finished', this 24-image roll is synced between all the contributors, or 'friends', and individual images can be saved to your camera roll or shared via Twitter.

Leave it to Synthetic Corp, the folks behind Hipstamatic, to make the disposable camera cool again.
